Common questions
Nothing happens when I tap “Use my current location”
Coordinate needs permission to use your location. Open the iOS Settings app, tap Privacy & Security → Location Services → Coordinate, and make sure it’s set to While Using the App. Then try again.
I searched for a place but nothing shows up
Type at least two characters and give it a moment — the app pulls suggestions from Google as you type. If nothing appears, you may be offline, or the connection to Google Places is slow. Try again in a moment.
“No spots to show” on the results screen
This usually means there aren’t many venues of the chosen type near the midpoint between the two locations. Try a broader category like Anything, or a different category that’s more common (coffee, restaurants, and gas stations tend to have the most coverage).
My friend tapped the invite link but nothing happened
If they don’t have Coordinate installed, tapping the link opens a small install page in their browser. They can install the app and then tap the link again to open it. If they do have the app but the link opens in Safari anyway, deleting and re-installing Coordinate usually fixes it — iOS re-verifies the app’s ownership of the link on a fresh install.
Can I use Coordinate without sending a text?
Yes — if you already know both locations, tap Find meeting spots instead of Send an invite. The invite flow is for the case where you don’t yet know where the other person is.
Does the app collect my data?
Coordinate doesn’t run a server that stores your information. Your location, meetup history, and settings live on your device. Address searches and route requests go directly from your phone to Google’s services, and location fixes are turned into addresses using Apple’s built-in geocoder. Full details are in our privacy policy.
